Ride On, Ride On in Majesty
Words: Henry H. Milman, 1820.

One of the most poignant and compelling of the Palm Sunday hymns.  The melody is dark, heroic, and driving, and yet has a sense of relentless, majestic courage and destiny.  You can almost feel the awful weight of the coming horror on the servant-King as the oblivious crowds shout and celebrate around Him.

Ride on, ride on in majesty!
Hark! all the tribes Hosanna cry;
O Saviour meek, pursue thy road
With palms and scattered garments strowed.

Ride on! ride on in majesty!
In lowly pomp ride on to die:
O Christ, thy triumphs now begin
O'er captive death and conquered sin.

Ride on! ride on in majesty!
The winged squadrons of the sky
Look down with sad and wondering eyes
To see th'approaching sacrifice.

Ride on! ride on in majesty!
Thy last and fiercest strife is nigh;
The Father on his sapphire throne
Expects his own anointed Son.

Ride on! ride on in majesty!
In lowly pomp ride on to die:
Bow thy meek head to mortal pain,
Then take, O God, thy power and reign.

Gosh - awesome words!
I know, I can't ever read or sing them without emotion welling up. My favorite verse for the incredible picture it paints:

Ride on! ride on in majesty!

The winged squadrons of the sky

Look down with sad and wondering eyes

To see th'approaching sacrifice.

Whoops...had the wrong melody posted up there. If you use this hymn, PLEASE use it with the hymn tune, THE KING'S MAJESTY. The tempo should be solemn and stately.
