Can you make a connection between these two verses?

Ps 30:11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy

Psalm 100:2a Worship the Lord with gladness

It was a revelation for me when I discovered it...

No responses, maybe because the domain's been down. Shall I give the answer...
i'll have to reread this later when i dont have to fly and think at same time lol. interesting thow.
OK, time's up Smile

The hebrew word translated "joy" in Ps 30:11 is simcha. The parallelism in this verse indicates that joy is synonymous with dancing.

The word translated "gladness" in Ps 100:2 is also simcha. So this verse is actually suggesting that we worship the Lord with dancing!

I don't know if anyone reading this has made the connection before - I certainly hadn't, so it was something new to me.

The reason I felt it was a minor revelation was as follows:

How many times have we read or recited Psalm 100, or sung a song or hymn based on it? Thousands, probably. And how many times did we realise it was telling us to dance. Not once, in my case, until I discovered this.

The bible is very positive about dance - but most of the time we miss it.
kool
I have to admit this one stumped me. Smile

I love having a new proof text to add to the "pro-dance" arsenal.
