Best recipe I've found ever.....especially with all fresh ingredients. This is Graham Kerr's recipe with a tweak. (the umeboshi is my added touch.)
Hummus
1 can garbanzo beans, drained (I like Bush brand best)
2 T. tahini
2 T. lemon juice (juice of one lemon)
2 T. olive oil (some can be reserved for garnish)
2 T. water
2 garlic cloves
1/2 tsp. sea salt (or splash of umeboshi plum vinegar)
couple shakes of cayenne pepper (or to taste)
Process till smooth in food processor or with hand blender stick. Garnish with mediterranean chili sauce (or extra cayenne) and drizzle with olive oil.
My favorite dippers: Warm pita wedges, baby carrots, pepper strips, baked snap peas.

I make hummus like yours, but I omit the hot sauce and add a good heapin' tablespoon of cumin.
I also make a roasted red pepper hummus that is really tasty. I have roasted the peppers myself, but really its easier to buy them in a jar. I use the peppers, lemon juice, sea salt, olive oil and what ever fresh herbs I have on hand.
I also substitute peanut butter for the tahini sometimes

You can also use 2T of lime juice which gives it an interesting flavor that my husband likes better than the original. It's also a great dip for Fritos. How's that for a culinary oxymoron?

And speaking of substitutions....... you can substitute great northern beans for the garbanzos. Though would it then technically still be hummus? Or just plain old bean dip? :lol: :munchies:
