Ark of the Covenant

I have previously designed and built and entire set of Tabernacle furniture that is light-weight and collapsible for traveling. I no longer have possession of these items. So, my workshop project for this summer is to reproduce a collapsible ark and mercy seat to be used in the worship conference we will be doing this September in Las Vegas.
The Ark will actually be a fabric-covered frame. The mercy seat, crown, and cherubim are fashioned from foam core, and covered with fabrics, trims and jeweling. The ark & cherubim are fully 3-dimensional so that they are complete from every viewing angle. The ark, however is just for altar settings--it cannot be carried. I particularly like the design of the cherubim in this interpretation, because they are in a posture of bowing, and giving honor to the Mercy Seat, the place of atonement. [In this particular picture, a red chalice (representing the Blood of the Covenant) has been placed between the cherubim.] Please be praying for me as I work on this emblem of the Lord's presence.

In front of the Ark, you can see a partial view of the Altar of Incense from the same collection.

I managed to find some pix of the other furniture pieces from that same traveling set. Poor quality, but good enough to see the basic design. I'm thinking that additionally, I might recreate the incense altar for the conference in September.

One of the Tabernacle furniture settings done in a small church. The furniture ascends on 3 levels up to the platform that holds the Ark. The painted firesilks and red drapings make a background. The Seven Spirits banners were set to the side (cropped from the pic because they were in the dark in this photo...the Laver was set on floor level in front of the communion rail, and the Brazen Altar was at the back of center aisle.
